House Guide

The hot tub should stay on. When you’re not using it, turn it all the way down, which holds the temperature at about 80°F. It takes about 6 hours to heat up, so plan ahead if you’d like an evening soak. Please don’t use glass in the hot tub. Plastic glasses are in the downstairs bar area, and hot tub towels are in the bar cupboards. If broken glass is found, the guest is responsible for cleaning, draining, and refilling. The hot tub is serviced weekly, so please tell us right away if anything needs attention.

On the main floor, the white sunshade remote lives in a large plastic bag on the top shelf of the armoire. Please return it there. The shade is especially useful in summer from about 3 to 7pm, when the sun is intense, and it cuts glare and heat. In the basement, the patio shades work two ways: the [left/right] shades use a pull string, and the other uses the remote. The basement patio door locks with a blue metal pole that rests in the ledge.

The Sonos system connects the wall speakers and a speaker on the upstairs patio. Download the Sonos app to connect. Please keep the volume neighbor-friendly and respect quiet hours. Turn off the porch lights at night to reduce light pollution and save electricity. The fireplace runs in the winter months and warms the home nicely, but it gets very hot, so use caution and turn it off before bed.

To stay comfortable, there are two thermostats. The one by the laundry room controls the main floor and basement, and the one on the top floor is on the wall outside the bunk bedroom. In summer, close the sunshades and blinds in the early afternoon and run the fans and air conditioning. In winter, use the fireplace, run the space heaters only when you can watch them, and close bedroom doors to keep the heat in. There’s a standing heater in the basement bedroom and a space heater on the wall across from the fireplace, so please turn both off when you’re not using them. Utah is very dry, so each bedroom has a humidifier. Running it with the door closed helps you sleep.
